Having written much to offend the scientific material atheist and Satanist, and to hopefully bore them to tears, one trusts the enemies of the faith are no long reading.
You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draws nigh to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
And He called the multitude, and said to them, Hear, and understand: Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.
Then His disciples came and said to Him, Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? But He answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father has not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Then answered Peter and said to Him, Declare to us this parable. And Jesus said, Are you also yet without understanding? Do you not yet understand, that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not a man.[1]
Our daily bread, our super-essential bread, the bread of life enters our mouth. It is the bread of Christ in the Holy Sacraments. It is delivered to the gates of hell because hell is what defiles us and what comes out of our mouth. Jesus harrows hell, even in us just as He harrowed hell on Holy Saturday so that the graves were opened.
It is from the mouth Eve engaged with the Serpent when silence was called for, and she cast pearls among swine. It is from the mouth that she ate the forbidden fruit, judging even the Serpent that beguiled her taking in the result of knowing good and evil. It is from the mouth that Adam blamed his wife and also our God.
The wickedness of our heart comes out of our mouth. We lift up the doors, the gates, the everlasting bars and the King of Glory enters in. And this is what cleans us, the Divine Body and Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. We have an organic relationship with our Creator and it is not limited to the past but is now; “For the bread of God is He which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.”[2]
The gates of hell are the mouth and they are assaulted by the Lord Himself. They are delivered by a Priest or by a Bishop[3], by a Priest father whose hands are consecrated in Christ Jesus[4] so to give for the gift comes down from the Father as every good and perfect gift does.[5]
And this is clear not only from this teaching of the Lord, but also from the Psalms and from the Gospel of John, for when the woman was caught in adultery, Jesus stoned her accusers and herself at the gate, that is the mouth, without pity – He was stone silent and thereby fulfilled all the law and the prophets. Instead of speaking to those who carried physical stones, He wrote their sins and then later hers in the dust, and He wiped those sins away with His feet, fulfilling perfectly the actual written law.[6] As the woman could not read, she did not yet know what He had done for her, but when she found out, she rushed to wipe away the dust from His feet with her tears and hair.[7]
But the blind guides that lead the blind do not know where the gates of hell are. The blinds guides that lead the blind do not know how they are assaulted or WHO assaults them! It is Jesus Himself who builds His Church, it is Jesus Himself WHO assaults the gates of hell, and our fathers and masters are deliverymen. Hypocrisy and sin are ever present because as a wicked sinners, even when taking in the King of Glory, the Lord mighty in war into one’s body, one is receiving the righteous Lord to convert the wayward body filled with passions and sins.
Oh Lord forgive us for we know not what we do and even when we know in theory, we do not live our knowledge in true depth and love. We do not know you as we should in self emptying, so the work of the Orthodox is always to self-empty till being absolutely empty, we are absolutely filled with the beautiful Lord, and we do not depart from Him by our defilements that proceeds from our infested hearts.
[1] Matthew 15:7-20
[2] John 6:33, all of John 6 should be read over and over again, “I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.” And “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” And “I am that bread of life.” And particularly “the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” And “Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.” This is by no means exhaustive but telling is “From that time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus to the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” Do Protestants not understand this? If He meant a mere representation, He would have said so – but He meant what He said and said what He meant. If one believes in literal Scripture, believe the Holy Gospel of John. Read the words.
